COURAGE Wins the Jenni Berebitsky Legacy Award at Indy Shorts

We’re honored to share that COURAGE, a short film written and directed by Eric Hernandez, has been awarded the Jenni Berebitsky Legacy Award at the Indy Shorts International Film Festival, presented by Heartland Film.

This award means so much to Eric and the entire team behind COURAGE. The film was created to honor resilience, identity, and the strength of reclaiming your story, and being recognized in this way is a powerful affirmation of that vision.

The Jenni Berebitsky Legacy Award is named in honor of Jenni Berebitsky, who lived with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) with extraordinary courage and grace. Jenni was a passionate advocate for the power of art to uplift and inspire, and the award reflects her legacy of strength and creative spirit. In her own words:

"It is no easy task to create a piece of art that is both meaningful and entertaining. I am honored to play a role alongside Heartland Film in this award that encourages filmmakers to follow a dream and inspire audiences around the world."

Receiving this award is not only a celebration of the film, but of the movement behind it. We are endlessly grateful to Heartland Film for this recognition, and to every person who has supported COURAGE along the way, from the cast and crew to the community that continues to show up for these stories.

Thank you for believing in the message. The official COURAGE song by @abraham_thomas_music is coming soon, stay tuned.
